Secretary My name is Heather Prinzing and this is my 2001 breeding stock pinto/quarter horse/arabian best friend- STAR FLYER 59- aka FLYER! He is the son of my first horse, Graystar, and I am proud to say that she is super healthy and living a semi retired life at the age of 28! Flyer and I have tried out all sorts of horse sports from western pleasure and reining to some English and trail riding, however, I think that we have finally found our love....DRILL! This is our fourth year in drill and we are hooked! It is teaching us to have trust in each other, other horses, other riders and to just get out there and HAVE FUN! My favorite part of drill is the connection I make with Flyer. Drill challenges us both mentally and physically. He is brilliant at listening to my body and it's incredible how fast he learns and retains. By the end of the season he has the drill memorized much better than I do- ha!! My goal is to write and ride a bridle-less drill someday! I encourage you to try drill if you haven't. Especially if you want to do something that is super challenging, but insanely FUN! I love the fact that I can use everything we have learned in training: collection, flexsion, moving off of pressure, rating speed, vocal and physical cues, desensitization etc. It's the ultimate horse sport and truly creates a "broke" horse! |  |
