Dear President 2009-10,

Rotary Club of Thana West and Rotary Club of Thane Uptown  are happy to announce the organisation of two prestigious, Dist. 3140 programs, MUNA (Model United Nations Assembly) and MIPS(Model Indian Parliament Session).  MUNA is hosted by Rotary Club of Thana West and MIPS is hosted by Rotary Club of Thane Uptown.

MIPS simulates the workings of Indian Parliamentary System. About 150 students are selected from various colleges. The students are divided into three groups-“Left”, “Right” and “Center”. There would also be speaker selected from among these students. They are then given a draft bill on an issue of national importance. After a very hard-fought debate, they have to either reject or pass the bill with or without amendments.

It is scheduled on Sunday, 10 January 2010, at KET’s V.G. Vaze College Auditorium, Mithagar Road,  Mulund (East),  Mumbai – 400 081,  from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

MUNA simulates the workings of the UN Assembly by having teams of three students. Twenty five or more such teams are formed by students selected from various colleges. A proposed resolution is circulated among these teams. Each team represents a different country and debates the issue from that country’s point of view. The resolution is then put to vote with or without amendments.

It is scheduled on Sunday, 17 January 2010, at KET’s V.G. Vaze College Auditorium, Mithagar Road,  Mulund (East), Mumbai – 400 081, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

MUNA & MIPS are enjoyable and educative programs, both for participants and spectators. They are essentially targeted at youth for their overall development as their public speaking, debating, social and global awareness skills are tested.

We are therefore approaching you with an appeal to wholeheartedly support us by sponsoring these two programs. The Co-Hosting charges are Rs. 3,000/- only per program. The charges entitle you to send either 10 of your members or participants for each program. The charges for every additional person are Rs. 150/- only per program. The cheques can be drawn in favour of Rotary Club of Thana West and Rotary Club of Thane Uptown, resp. for MUNA and MIPS.
