The first training session was organised on Sat. 26th
December 2009 at M.K.Nakhawa High School, Thane. It was attended by over
55 students from various colleges in and around Thane. The session was
conducted by PP Rtn. Sudhir Sathe, a knowledgeable authority on this
subject from our Dist. 3140.
He explained the concept behind MIPS and narrated the working of Indian Parliament. He said,"for the sake of our convenience, we are going to have only three political parties in the parliament, viz. Centre (Congress in ruling), Right (BJP in opposition) and Left (Communist in second opposition)". He then asked students to choose their own party and segregated them in three groups. They were given ten minutes to discuss and come out with the issues that are bugging them and for which they want to bring reforms. After much debate, it was decided to propose bills in Health, Water and Education areas. All the students have been asked to study these subjects and prepare bills that would be finalised in next training session. He then asked ruling party members to choose their leader and other ministers and other parties to choose their leaders. The speaker was also then finalised. The students are now fully charged and we hope to have a larger participation and interesting debates on D-day. |
