Trees for Hoffman Park

Trees for Hoffman Park

Here are photographs of the seven Atlas Pistache that were planted in Hoffman Park. Many of the trees in Hoffman Park were planted in the 50s so due to the age of the trees we want to be able to replace the trees when and where we can. In this case the Trees for Tucson supplied the trees and the Tucson Park and Recreation department planted the trees after working with the (RWNA) Hoffman Trees Committee on where to locate the trees.

Eclipse at Hoffman Park

You may have noticed the yellowish glow in the late afternoon of May 20th or the fact that it had cooled down significantly. Hopefully you did not try to look at the sun. There was an informal gathering of neighbors to see the partial eclipse at Hoffman Park to look through filtered telescopes and filtered binoculars provided by neighbors to see the eclipse. We had conversations about how the moon was passing the sun and the earth is spinning and on and on. Here are some photographs from the park.

This event took place at the El Paso Natural Gas building at 5151 E Broadway. It was hosted by the Tucson Police SWAT Team to memorialize the tenth anniversary of 9-11 and benefits went to the Wounded Warrior project. Participants from local law enforcement and local fire departments ran up the 17 story building's stairs 6.5 times, a distance equal to the 110-story World Trade Center building's height.
