Biographical Information
Since 2002, I have been a certified group exercise instructor and have taught at several gyms in the D.C. Metro area, specializing in Cardio-Kickboxing and Indoor Group Cycling as well as stability ball and abdominal strength classes. I obtained my ACE personal trainer certification in 2006 and Strollercize certification in 2007. In 2010, I also completed YogaFit's Level 1 yoga instructor training. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. I've studied in Mexico, Argentina, and Costa Rica and speak Spanish fluently. I also have a PK-12 teaching license from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Currently I train in Fairfax County, VA, where I reside with my three awesome children- two boys and a baby girl born in May 2009. As a mom myself, I love working with other moms to help them reach their fitness goals. As an offshoot of my passion for working with moms, I am studying to become a Certified Childbirth Educator through Birth Works International. In August 2009, I completed my first triathlon, the IronGirl Columbia Triathlon, finishing in 2:35:39. I plan on competing in at least 2 sprint-distance triathlons in 2010, with an eye towards an olympic-distance triathlon in 2011. |
