How to get there

The advantage of Sulmona has always been its central location within Abruzzo.

By plane: the airport is located 3 Km from Pescara, Aereoporto d'Abruzzo:

The airport is served throughout the year by the following airlines, however please note that in the summer, international charter flights (to the US, Canada etc) also operate here:

Public transport from Pescara's airport to Sulmona:

From the airport, there is a bus n. 38 that will take you to Pescara Central Railway Station (Pescara Stazione Centrale). From there, there are regular train services to Sulmona (service: Pescara-Roma and also local services to Sulmona; check the Trenitalia website: www.trenitaliaplus.com); there are coach services operating from Pescara to Sulmona by Arpa Autolinee (www.arpaonline.it). The site is in Italian for now, so please feel free to ask me for assistance. The company issues a ticket called Girabruzzo, covering zones/areas of 38 towns/villages for people to explore the region. The ticket is also valid on train services (for the specific zone(s) purchased).

An alternative airport is Rome, about 2 hours away from Sulmona.

By car from the airport:

Take Via Tiburtina Valeria (right outside the airport), take the SS602 (direction Forca di Penne), then the motorway A25 (Roma-Teramo) and exit at SULMONA-PRATOLA PELIGNA. From the exit, follow the road towards Sulmona. The road changes from a 4-lanes to a dual carriageways at some point, but you should carry on. The crossing you need - from the motorway's exit - is the 4th on your right (on your left you'll have a sign for LE MARANE, PACENTRO).

Once you turn right at the 4th crossing, you'll be in VIA CAPPUCCINI.
VIA AVEZZANO
IS JUST THE PARALLEL ROAD ON YOUR RIGHT HAND SIDE.
