Literacy Agenda
For the next few weeks, we will prepare for the NJASK 5 & 6 through guided reading and writing workshops. Each day we will commence each day with a brief minilesson that will be the foundation for our day's work. This week we are reading A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon. This book is about a young girl named Camilla Cream, who is worried about what other people think of her. She is so worried that. She is so worried that she stops eating her favorite food, lima beans, because none of the other kids at school like them.
Math This week we will work in small groups to problem solve single and multiple step word problems. These problems stem from the NJASK and Communicator Math. Independently, students will review graphs, coordinates, numerical operations, and geometry.
Science
For every organism, there is a kingdom to which it belongs. For the next weeks, students will complete an ongoing research project on one of the five kingdoms: Monerans, Protists, Animals, Plants, and Fungi. The final project will be displayed through a multimedia PowerPoint presentation.
Social Studies
Students will study the geography of the United States. Students will learn capitals, state abbreviations, land formations, etc.
