Derek Hagan was a high school and former NFL teammate of Dolphins safety Tyrone Culver

Growing up in California, Hagan's favorite team was the Oakland Raiders, and his favorite player was Jerry Rice

While at Arizona State, Hagan and the Sun Devils won 3 Territorial Cups, the trophy given to the winner of the annual winner of the Arizona State vs. Arizona football game. It is the oldest award given in an rivalry game.


Entering his 4th NFL season, Hagan has played with 3 former Arizona Wildcats. Of the 3 players, only one was a Dolphins teammate. That was Lionel Dotson, a rookie in 2006.

The other 2 Wildcats were current New York Giants Linebacker Antonio Pierce and Safety Michael Johnson. Johnson played against Hagan in college in 2006.

 

To balance things out, Hagan has also played with 2 former Arizona State Sun Devils. He played with current 49er Linebacker Derek Smith in 2006 when they were both with the Dolphins. In 2008, he got to play with Giants Center Grey Ruegamer.


Palmdale High School, which Hagan attended, was also the high school of Oakland Athletics pitcher Dana Eveland
