The City Council has established a semi-circular bed for flowering and foliage plants at Romsey Rec, close to the Ross Street entrance, and some members of Romsey Garden Club helped with the planting at the beginning of April 2011.  The emphasis is on drought resistant plants, and on plants that can be grown easily with the minimum of care.  Although the plants will survive with little water, if we have more hot and rainless summers, its success will depend on local residents bringing the odd bucketfuls.  But since this is the driest spring on record, with the threat of worse to come, this is getting urgently necessary.  |
