Dear Parents and Guardians of Cougar Cubs,

                This is a busy time of the year for everyone!  People are rushing around shopping, attending holiday programs, and trying to keep their sanity.  We only have 3 weeks of school until Winter Break begins.  We encourage you to provide your child with a structured routine during these hectic times.  Make sure that they are eating well and getting to bed at a reputable hour.  We want them to be able to perform at their best academically and physically.

                At this time of the year, students want to bring non-school related items to school.  Please do not let your child bring i-pods, walkman radios, and electronic games to school.  We don’t want these items to be a distraction for your child.  If your child brings these items to school, they will be taken away and not given back until a parent comes to school to get them. 

                Wednesday, December 2, 2009 is an Early Release Day for students.  School will dismiss for students at 1:15 pm.  Teachers will participate in various Professional Development Sessions.

                We have Wake Wednesdays on December 9, 2009 and December 16, 2009.  Students dismiss at 2:45 pm.  Staff members participate in Professional Learning Team sessions on these days.

                We will have our annual Holiday Drive, sponsored by our Student Council, December 8 – 15, 2009.  Send in new gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves for those individuals who may need them at this time of the year.  We are also accepting canned foods and non-perishable food items.  This is an excellent way to teach your child about helping those in need.

                Students will be able to shop at the North Pole Gift Shop the week of December 7 – 11, 2009.  Each class has signed up for a different day to shop.  Please send money with your child on the appropriate day, so that they can buy small holiday gifts for their family members and friends.

                We will have two holiday musical performances this year.  Our first performance will be the “Second and Third Grade Holiday Program.”  It will be on Thursday, December 10 at 7:00 pm in the Gym.  The second performance will be the “Kindergarten, First Grade, and Chorus Holiday Program.”  It will be on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 pm in the Gym.  Mrs. Kris and our students have been working hard to prepare for these events, so come out and show your support during these special holiday events.

                When it is cold outside, please make sure that you are dressing your children appropriately.  Make sure they are wearing hats, gloves, and coats.  Remember to keep sick children at home and wash your hands frequently during this season of sickness!

                It is a joy to work with your children on a daily basis!
