My Interest in collecting toys and calculators started when my father bought me my first toy – a SPEAK & SPELL made by Texas Instruments when I was a child. I had already been meddling with the TI-1200 calculator which my father had bought then.
The Speak & Spell is a unique toy. It was an electronic handheld educational toy created by Texas Instruments that consist of a speech synthesizer, a keyboard and several plugin modules/cartridges. The Speak & Spell project was started in the year 1976 by Texas Instruments and created with the TMC 0280 the first one-chip LPC speech synthesizer. This was one of the first of its kind - A toy that could talk, interact and teach a child English language.
The speak & spell withstood all attacks which a child can do to it. It even withstood an immersion in water. I treasure my first speak & spell and have a particular interest in Texas Instruments stuff because it is made to precision and does not go bad easily. This interest developed in to a full time hobby and I have now started devoting some time from my busy schedule for this hobby.
Right now I collect Toys and Calculators of Texas Instruments. I'm building a collection of various models and types. Given are a list of calculators and toys of Texas Instruments I have.
