Below is a recent newsletter update by Mayor Cole:

Finally started!  Thanks to the efforts of many from the City, County, State and Federal Government our new bridge in Leabrooke is under construction!  It has taken since the spring storms of 2008 to work through all the challenges, but the Webster County bridge crew is now moving forward.  This project is being funded by a grant that covers 75% of the cost with the city being responsible for the remainder.  This bridge will consist of two 15 foot concrete sections for a total length of 30 feet.  According to the Webster County bridge supervisor, this should be completed in three months!  Please be cautious when in this area and give the workers plenty of room.  Thanks to all who have (and continue to) work so diligently!

The Lions Club is planning a city-wide litter pick-up.  They are asking anyone who is willing to help to please meet at the City Park on April 14th at 8:30 a.m. Legacy Bank will provide lunch for the workers.  If you have questions concerning the pick-up please call Amanda Cole, President of the Lions Club at 753-2392.

We are in the process of adding some new options for citizens who would like to pay their utility bills via the web.  This should be online very soon, so watch for more information to come.  Also, if you happen to be one of the unfortunate individuals to receive a ticket from our police department, you may now pay your ticket online.  The payment instructions and information can be found on your ticket.  Please be aware that the companies administering the web-based payment programs often charge a convenience fee.

We have a major concrete street replacement and repair on Dogwood scheduled to start in April.  Additional streets are slated for asphalt paving in the near future.

The City recently completed our annual audit and once again received a "Clean Opinion" from the auditing firm.  Great job, Board and Staff!

We will strive to continue our progress and appreciate any feedback and suggestions that you have to offer.

Sincerely,

Mayor Jack Cole
