Welcome!

Welcome to my research website!

I am currently working as CTO for a secure comms company.  Previously, I worked as a researcher for the Brazilian National Institute for Digital Convergence (INCoD) at the University of Santa Catarina in Florianópolis. Previously, I was a research fellow at the Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics (LCSR) at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, with Prof. Russell Taylor and Prof. Gregory Hager. I have obtained my PhD at the LIRMM (Laboratoire d'Informatique, de Robotique et de Microéléctronique de Montpellier). My PhD thesis was entitled 'Robust 3D Motion Tracking for Robotic-Assisted Beating Heart Surgery' and my advisor was Prof. Philippe Poignet. It was awarded the second prize in the 2010/2011 thesis awards by the Groupement de Recherche en Robotique de France  (G.d.R. Robotique). Recently, I was awarded the Brazilian Science Without Borders fellowship for research in computer vision applied to surgical robotics.

On this page you'll find my research interests, my publications and ongoing projects. My CV can be found here (Currículo Lattes). If you are interested in the source code for some of my most recent publications, check out the new Resources section.

2014

I have recently participated in a 2 day tutorial on Detection, Classification and Registration in CV, together with Dr. Raphael Sznitman. It took place at the ISIT (Clermont-Ferrand, France) and it was organized by Prof. Adrien Bartoli. All slides are available online. It is also in the form of a video tutorial, available on YouTube.

2013

Together with Dr. Raphael Sznitman and Dr. Sandrine Voros, we organized VTR'13: Visual Tracking and 3D Reconstruction - State of the art and challenges, a tutorial session at this year's MICCAI in Nagoya,  Japan. Please visit http://www.lapix.ufsc.br/TutorialMiccai2013/ for more information.
