Dear Sophomore Parents,

The sophomore curriculum is quite challenging so it is extremely important to have your student communicate with his/her teachers and for you to regularly monitor your student’s grades. The RHS website allows for you and your student to check grades online 24/7 as well as visit teacher websites to find additional information about classes.

Please be sure to contact teachers directly if you have concerns about your student’s progress in classes. Teachers are very willing to provide additional support for students before and after school. We also have the Plus Period where students can meet with teachers in small groups for extra help during the school day. Students should schedule times with individual teachers as the need arises. We also offer Homework Help in Room H-2, the College and Career Center, on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 7:15am to 7:45 am and Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:40 to 3:30 p.m.

I will be meeting with all sophomores spring semester to revise course selections for Junior and Senior years. At that time I will also be helping students to better understand their transcripts and our Graduation Petition. We will focus on preparation for post secondary education whether that is four year college, two year college, vocational school or military.
