Rock Island Memorial POW Camp #2229 is located in Northwest Illinois. We were charted at Rockford, Illinois in August of 2009 with 7 original charter members, 1 associate member, and 1 member of the ladies auxiliary. Since this time we have preformed graveside memorial services, assisted various other SCV camps and divisions with their events, attended re-enactments and historical seminars, conducted camp meetings and social gatherings, and held fundraising events along with many more other important and vital operations within our local camp and organization.

"Charge" by Lt. General S.D. Lee:

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those pinciples which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish."
