Executive Officer, The Salvation Army, Joplin, Missouri July 2004 – June 2006
As chief executive officer in Joplin, MO (metro-area population of 175,000), I was the director of several helping programs, including a family homeless shelter, soup kitchen, full service social services/welfare office, community center, youth program (social/educational/recreational/spiritual), two thrift stores, a warehouse, and a church. I directed the work of 8 department directors, staff and thousands of volunteers.
As head of a nonprofit, development was always my top priority. My fundraising success included:
- During two years, raised $3.4 million from all sources.
- Nearly doubled the organization’s annual income budget: from $800,000 to $1.5 million.
- Conducted a major donors campaign, visiting all previous donors at the $1K or higher level. The campaign was a huge success, including successfully soliciting four gifts totaling $270,000 from a single donor who had made only one previous donation.
- Wrote and obtained a Salvation Army grant to retire the local organization’s $786,000 debt.
- Recruited over 18 thousand volunteers to staff annual fundraising, special event fundraising, and to assist in the organization’s many helping programs within two years.

DESIRED CAREER INVOLVEMENT
In the future I want to focus primarily on managing fundraising teams and fundraising. I would like the opportunity to see mine and my team members efforts making a significant difference on a global scale through successfully financially supporting the highest deemed needs.
There are really four areas of special interest for me
1) Higher Education Advancement/Development
2) International Disaster Services Development
3) Orphans (Fundraising Development that supports Orphan placement in loving families)
4) Christian Faith-based Ministries Development
I would wake up with a passion to meet the next donor for any organization with one or more of the above focuses.

Yes I really do desire "to dwell in the house of the LORD forever and in the tents of the righteous." The LORD's house/tent has to pay enough to support my family equal to the median of experts in the nonprofit fundraising industry in the USA with my level of experience and education as "a laborer is worthy of his hire."
