About Rock Dodger

I (Paul Holt) wrote the original ten or more years ago, based on a game I dimly remember writing thirty years ago.

The game is maintained on Debian under the name rockdodger, through the efforts of the fine team at debian.org and the interest and fine stewardship of Bart Martens.

Ongoing updates and inpirational updates are provided by Robert Krawczyk, who moved upon the face of the source code, and saw that it could do with a lot of work. His efforts have resurrected Rock Dodger over the last few years.

The game is licenced GPL V2, which is unusual for a game. The recent craze for "indie" games seems to have forgotten the GPL. You can change this game and re-sell it if you like! You can't do that with super sausage boy or mine craft, no matter how many mods you make. All you have to do is pass on the same conditions to the next buyer of the game - they too are allowed to modify and sell modified copies of the game.

Read the GPL to understand what this means.

Game play

Dodge the rocks for as long as possible until you die. Kill greeblies to make the universe safe for non-greeblie life once again. Use your laser and shield to prevent death by kinetic energy overdose.

Controls

Up = go up

Down = go down

Left = go left

Right = go right

D = fire laser!

S = Shields [VERY useful!]

P = Pause

Command line

Run the program with "rockdodger"

rockdodger -s = silent (no sound)

rockdodger -w = run in windowed mode (Full screen mode is now the default because it looks way cooler)

rockdodger -h = list all allowed command line options
