Collection
The Library maintains a growing collection of print and electronic resources, including over 22,000 library books, 800 videos and DVDs, and professional resources. Selection is based on curriculum and educational needs, the interests of students, and alignment with the California State Department of Education Content Standards.PoliciesStudents are required to present their EAHS student ID in order to check out a Library book or textbook.
Borrowed Library materials are due in two weeks, but may be renewed. There are no fines for overdue Library books, but any damaged or lost Library or text books become the student's responsibility.
Technology
The library currently hosts 10 computers for student use. Students have access to Microsoft Office 200, the Internet and Athena, the Library's electronic catalog. In order to log onto any campus computer, students and their parents will sign an Acceptable Use Policy each year. Computer use is a privilege that can be revoked as a result of inappropriate use.
Information Database
The Library subscribes to elibraryBigChalk, an information database of hundreds of magazines and newspapers with complete text articles, maps, images, reference library, and other resources. See the Library staff for how to access the database from home or school.
Accelerated Reader
Fully implemented during the 2005-2006 school year, Accelerated Reader is a classroom-level software that helps teachers motivate student reading and math and to monitor student comprehension. The High School Priority Schools Grant is providing hundreds of new books to support this program and the improved literacy of EAHS students.
