Welcome to Kindergarten, Riptides!

The Kinderthon  is on Friday, June 18th!

Dear Kindergarten Parents:

Oops!  I forgot to update everything last week.  It was a crazy week!!  We had a lot to do!  This update is for both the week of June 7th & 14th.

It’s hard to believe that the school year is almost over!  Just 8 more school days left! 1 ½ weeks and your child will be a big first grader!  They have really grown a lot this year, both academically and socially!  We can’t wait to see how they change over the summer!  Remember to stop by and say “Hi” next year!

On Wednesday, June 3rd we went on our bus field trip to the Long Beach Aquarium.  The students had a great time!  It was a fantastic trip!  The aquarium did a wonderful job and we had the perfect number of parents that helped!  Thank you again to all the fabulous volunteers!  It wouldn’t have gone as smoothly without your help!  You Rock!!!!

Wednesday, June 3rd was also Open House.  Thank you for coming to see all the hard work the students have done this year.  They have really grown a lot this year!

This Tuesday, June 8th, the students ate in the cafeteria for the first time.  Most of the students bought their lunches.  The fourth graders, who will be the fifth grade ambassadors next year to help the first graders at recess, came up to show them the ropes.  They showed them what to do when they first buy their lunch, where to sit and how to separate the recycling from the trash when they are done.  The students all said it was a delicious lunch and can’t wait to buy next year.  Hopefully they remember everything when they come back after their long break.  Luckily the new fifth grade students will be there to help them if they forget anything!

The students also presented their sealife reports this week!  They all did a fantastic job for their first report!  Great Job Kinders!

No Kindergarten homework next week!  Enjoy your homework free week!

A homework downloading hint:  If you are having problems printing the pages directly from the website, try saving it to your computer first.  Several parents have said that they were only able to print out the middle of a page that was zoomed in.  Hopefully this will fix the problem.  If you have any other tips for parents, please let us know so we can pass it on.   Thanks again for your patience and understanding!

The link to the Raz Kids online reading website is www.raz-kids.com.  Almost all the students have logged on at lest once a week.  Please try to have your child listen to and read at least 2 stories a week!  Remember it's okay for them to listen and/or read the books more than one time!  Try out the microphone.  Several students have tried it and really enjoyed listening to themselves read the book.

Thank  you for all your help!
