Home

This is a picture I took near my classroom on a day that was both sunny and a high surf warning. The logs were pounding the beach. The foam from the waves was splashing. The sound was intense.

WELCOME MESSAGE

Hi everybody who wanders to this site. The purpose of this site is to fill in the blank field on applications where it asks for my website, have a website on my business cards, and have a home presence on the web. This is also the homepage I will use to get everywhere I frequently go.

The content I will host on this site will include:

  • Curriculum Vitae/Resume
  • Research papers
  • Autobiographical Information
  • My Links

This current version of the web site will be my ongoing autobiography. According to the CIA's The World Factbook, I am just past the midpoint of the average U.S. life expectancy of 78.11 years. It will probably be a multiyear project that will include artifacts about family history that my mother left me when she passed away and recollections of my own memory. I will also us it to archive all of the diplomas, certificates, awards, copywrites, patterns, unpublished term papers and other things I should be proud about.

Who is the audience for this? I'm not really sure. Who did Benjamin Franklin foresee would be the audience for his autobiography?

In conclusion, whoever asks me for my web site should find some evidence that I have been a productive human being and haven't under-lived my life.

History of my websites

I have been creating personal web pages since 1997. I created the first page for a course I was teaching, Computer Applications for Behavioral Sciences at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The second version was in 1999 for a teacher credentialing course in technology at Compton Unified School District. In 2000, I updated the page to reflect the work I was doing on a Computer-Based Peer Mediation project. I then waited until 2004 to develop a page to share the work on my dissertation related to foreign trained teachers. The 2008 version was a course site for my middle school students at Quileute Tribal School. My new purpose of creating a website is a learning transformation from using expensive hosts and applications (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Photoshop) to simpler and less expensive web based applications (e.g., Google Sites, Picasa, and other Google Applications). I also want to find a new way to tie my career information, calendar, blogs, social networking, and organizational affiliations into one site.

Thank you for visiting my website,

Robert Whipple, Ed.D.
