Chapter 5

Fuselage sides.

03 Jul 2009.  The ass-end of the fuselage sides, now cleaned up.

03 July 2009.  Measure twice, cut once.  Foam should be at 101.75 in.  Apparently the Length Over-all was not that far off!  So I cleaned up the boo-boos left behind and finished Chapter 5 for real.

31 May 2009.  Completed fuselage sides.  Outside foam has been repaired.

31 May 2009.    Spar cut out.  Note some booboos.  Also, despite careful measurement, length overall is just shy of 101.75 in.  So 5.5 in x 8.7 in spar cut-out were made AS IF they ended at 101.75 in.  So I'll need a little flox to fill the corner of LWX.  Longerons will extend thru firewall, might need to fill foam gaps with flox.

22 May 2009.  Fuselage side ends, electrical channel all built up.  Just need to trim front and back ends, cut out the spar channel, and Ch.5 is a fond memory!

10 May 2009.  Upper longerons glassed.  Lower longerons floxed, nailed, clamped, and curing.

03 May 2009.  Fuselage sides, curing.

02 May 2009.  Fuselage sides, reinforced and ready to glass.

25 Apr 2009.  Foam for fuselage sides, on jigs now nailed down.

15 Apr 2009.  Fuselage side jigs, almost ready for foam.

12 Apr 2009.  Reinforcements floxed onto the longerons, nailed in place, weighted down, and ready to cure for 24h.

11 Apr 2009.  Longerons curing in the jigs.

10 Apr 2009.  Fuselage jigs FJA, FJB, and FJC, nailed to worktable surface.  I'm using two EAA standardized work tables butted end-to-end, leveled, with 3-foot wide plywood screwed to the surface.
