Conferences: The entire first-year class attends the AAFP Scientific Assembly along with the program director and chief resident.  One week off and money towards the conference of your choice in the second and third years
 
Textbooks, etc: Numerous textbooks are given to residents throughout residency.  Two free lab coats per year.  Assistance for Epocrates and PDA.  Free BLS, ACLS, PALS, ALSO, NRP classes.
 
Cafeteria: Free meals.  Cafeteria is open early and late.
 
Parking: Free, lighted, secure parking right next to the hospital.
 
CME&I: Brand new, state of the art facility in heart hospital opened in 2005. Ability to practice procedures, traumas, and codes with lifelike simulation. One of the first of its kind in the NATION.
 
Vacation: 3 weeks per year.  4 day holiday at Christmas or New Years.
 
McConnell Heart Health Center: Free for residents, discounted for family members. Basketball courts, swimming pools, aerobics, cardiovascular and weight training equipment, indoor running track, outdoor multipurpose path, shower facilities, on-site childcare.
 
Nursing and Office Staff: Experienced nursing staff. Radiology technician in the office.  Lab technician/phlebotomist on-site.  Professional biller and coder in-office.  Notary Public on staff.  Altogether, staff has over 250 years of experience working at the Riverside Family Practice Center.
 
Journal Club:  Monthly meeting held at the RFPC with dinner provided.  Discuss a clinical question database search, a Patient Oriented Evidence based Medicine statement, and a recent evidence based journal article.
 
Senior Project: Third Year project on a topic of your choice (Research or Case Based).  Many are awarded grant money and published.
 
Moonlighting: Allowed as long as not interfering with required activities.  Some examples are urgent care coverage and hospital admissions.
 
Student Teaching: Teach medical and pharmacy students in both the inpatient and outpatiet settings.  Students from multiple medical schools.  Preceptor for OSU MED-II physical exam course.  Residents are Clinical Instructors through the Ohio State Family Medicine Department.
