Geriatric Fellowship

The Geriatric Fellowship at Riverside Methodist Hospital is a one year post-residency program designed to enhance the skills of a family medicine or internal medicine trained physician that will:

            1) Supplement and enhance their ability for managing common and complex geriatric problems.

            2) Provide an opportunity for learning research methods and to perform a study during the year of training which is meant to be suitable for publication.

            3) Enhance the individuals understanding of geriatrics and its position in society to prepare the physician for a leadership role in the delivery of healthcare to the aging population.

            4) Provide a framework from which the physician can learn so as to be able to run a geriatric center or practice.

            5) Provide an opportunity for the physician to interact with medical students and resident physicians in a teaching situation to familiarize the fellowship physician teaching skills that will be necessary in the geriatrician's role as a teacher.
