About Our Program

Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program

The movement toward family medicine as a specialty was encouraged by central Ohio physicians. Columbus has remained a leader in family medicine. Riverside Methodist Hospital, Ohio's largest private medical center, began its family medicine residency program in 1974.

Every one of our graduates has passed the family medicine board examinations. Fifty percent have ranked in or above the 90th percentile. Riverside graduates are practicing across the United States in rural and urban areas. Our residency program's fill record is equaled by only a few other residency programs in the country.

As one of Ohio's busiest hospitals, Riverside treats approximately 150,000 patients each year. The Family Practice Center sees an average of 24,000 patient visits annually.

These statistics add up to an excellent training ground for Riverside's 18 family medicine residents. As a family medicine resident, you will work with fellow Riverside residents from general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and orthopedics.
