OUR PROJECT: Unity High School, once named the Intermediate School and later Riverside, was built in 1936. It was created through a New Deal Public Works Administration project to serve as Lowell Area Schools' first consolidated elementary school. For over 70 years this building has been a home to students, teachers and staff. This project, created through Unity's Michigan History class, uses this historic building as a primary document to demonstrate the importance of the riverside site in the formation of the school district and how the site was impacted through the changes of the 20th century.
