WWE Classic Superstars 20

The Dynamite Kid

This is truly one of the most long waited Members of the classic superstars series. It is truly a credit to Jeremy’s hard work and dedication. The figure on the other hand is not to spectacular. The head scan is decent but to be honest I wanted a fig of him so bad I’m not going to get too picky. The attire is just kind of blah. I guess my main problem is we don’t have an old school bull dog to match him. But I’ll take what we have and hope for a CS Tag team of the bulldogs. He comes with a tired tag title but what else would you expect. It fits. Noted from the proto on the back of the box the figure came with out the black knee pads that was pictured. Not a huge deal but still.

Mr. USA Tony Atlas

A solid addition to the CS line if you ask me. Tony was a huge powerhouse of a draw in the early 80s of the WWF and blazed the indy seen through out the early 90’s. In the mid 90’s he made an appearance on MTV’s True Life I’m a Pro Wrestler and then we didn’t here much from him. But he’s back now and still in phenomenal shape. Lets hope for an ad 2 pack with a bald atlas in a sleeveless dress shirt with a mark hennery. Hopefully this time with a new head scan! Okay sorry about that rant. No knee pads, plain attire and that was the simplicity of the early 80’s. Tony was bare bones and so is this figure. The attire is red makes a good fit for stomping the wild Samoans along side Rocky Johnson. I’m not complaining because it works for him and I couldn’t be happier. Well not exactly. Lets rip on his accessory. Wait .. what??? 13 bucks for a Classic Superstar, a special series geared towards collectors that cost extra and he comes with a …. that’s right a big pile of nothing. No excuse for that. Give me a chair or a monochromatic hotdog or something. Over all great figure and perfect for Tony but the lack of accessories is a drag.

The Rock

No my friends you are not seeing an illusion, no this box did not simply come with a mirror. It is a sham less re-release of the rock form cs19. Yes the packaging is different, yes it comes with the WWF Attitude era big Eagle belt and yes one fist is a different mold but nothing else has changed. I mean would it have hurt them to change the color of the logo on his pants!!! This is such a waste of space in the cs line that could be taken by some of the many other cs signees that are waiting in the wings. Yes it’s MOC and that’s because I have no use for it. If your interested it’s up on ebay. Great pick up if you didn’t grab the first rock. Plus you get the somewhat elusive WWF attitude belt. http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/ringskirts

LJN John Cena

Well if you have read my reviews before you know how I feel about the LJN style chaser figures. A waste. They look like crap, are a step back in technology and a waste of space. That’s why I eBay them. But I have to be honest. For an LJN style fig remake, this is one of the better ones I have seen. I mean it actually has a pretty decent likeness to John Cena. So for what it is it is okay but not good enough for me to keep. If your interested here is the link. http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/ringskirts

Rey Mysterio

I’ll be the first to rip on the fact that Jakks flows out Rey Rey like diarrhea flows from my anus after all you can eat shrimp night at the Sizzler but this one is worth picking up. The classic style of the mask with the crown on it is great and the tights detailed all the way around with question marks. I love the body choice as its not over developed but not necessarily perfect for an early Rey. I also appreciate the short kickers and the simplicity of the fig with out all the tattoos that he has now. He comes with a chair which is always great. Also comes with elbow pads but to my knowledge he dint really where them at this time. I think he wore them from time to time in WWE but then again I’m not big on Rey so I don’t relay know. Bottom Line, if you missed the best of ecw/wcw versions this guy’s worth snagging.

The Nature Boy Ric Flair

Making his 4th appearance in the Classic Super Star Line (I refuse to count the LJN’s) this is a decent figure. I’m not a Ric Flair mark per se but there is something about the simplicity of his figs that is beautiful. The RF on the trunks and boots and a great robe. The robe truly is the kicker for this figure. The same as his red robe in design but still looks brilliant. He of course comes with the Big world title. The head scan is a bit tired now days. I would like to have seen the CSDA version or even the best of WCW one. As others have ranted about the rocky boots are a bit of a downer but not too big of a deal for me. My big complaint is the knee pads. The newer style just doesn’t fit well for rick. I mean Ric always wore his pads around his calves. I don’t know why and always thought that he must have busted up knees but he did. And these are too big and don’t stay in the right spot too well for a Ric Flair fig. So I have to hunt for some green old style pads. It’s also interesting to note that they went with the cruiserweight style arms for this fig which I don’t mind. Ric was around for so long that he went through different phases and deserves a bit of variation. One last thing that has always irked me a bit is the robe tie. you have to tie it so why does it have Velcro to hold the tie together? I just don’t understand this at all. Still it’s a decent fig.

Ron Simmons

Before he was the “Damn Man” he was the first African American WCW heavyweight Champion!!! If you ask me, this figure is the gem of the set. I just have no complaints about it. The attire screams early 90s and the head is decent with his old school jerry curl. They got his wrist tape down pat and the boot logos are a great touch. Would be nice to see a butch reed doom set some time soon. The only down fall is that they gave him the big gold belt. I would have loved to have seen the WCW belt that he actually wore. Bellow there is a pic that may look a little bit familiar to you old school WCW Galoob collectors. That’s dedicated to you.
