Righter Than Rain is a duo specializing in traditional classical repertoire and jazz duets from the 1920s and 1930s, as well as Hungarian Gypsy music, Celtic songs, bluegrass, and occasional journeys into middle eastern music and avant-garde minimalism. Their performances showcase a wide range of string instruments, including violin, classical and folk guitars, dobro, cittern, and oud.
Recent performances include Old Dover Days, libraries in Bethany Beach, Frankford, and Lewes, The Wilmington Music School, Brantwyn, First & Central Presbyterian Church Noontime Concert Series, Jessop's Tavern and the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts. In 2007, they performed a regular monthly series at the former Costa's Grill and Wine Bar in downtown Wilmington.
Janka Pernisz holds violin performance degrees from Eastman School of Music and the University of Delaware. In addition to performing, she teaches violin at The Wilmington Music School, Darlington Arts Center, Sanford School, and the Community Music School of University of Delaware.
Chris Braddock holds a classical guitar performance degree from the University of Delaware and is the recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship in Music Composition from the Delaware Division of the Arts. As a full-time faculty member of The Wilmington Music School, he teaches private guitar lessons, music history and family music classes, as well as manages the Cultural Crossroads series.
