As a solo guitarist, my repertoire is my own arrangements of traditional and popular tunes from "O, Danny Boy" to Broadway and Doo-wop. My technique has been described as "classical." The songs I write and sing fall into the categores of humor, satire, romance and blues. Please visit these pages to hear examples of my work as a solo guitarist and as a singer-songwriter; for more examples, please visit my channel on YouTube.
In June of 2006, I moved to San Francisco to play guitar full-time. Before that, I lived in and around Philadelphia for 21 years and played in jazz bands throughout the Delaware Valley. I also acted and played guitar and mandolin with several professional theatre companies including the Hedgerow Theatre, Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, and Arden Theatre where I shared a nomination for a Barrymore Award for original music. I was a professor of theatre arts for thirty years.
I began playing when I was twelve by taking lessons at a music store, and have been self-taught ever since. In the past few years, I have attended week-long workshops with guitarists whose style I admire: Tuck Andress (2000), Ed Gerhard (2005) and Pierre Bensusan (2007).
