Opening worship and presentation (Friday 7-9pm), with a feature presentation by Jim Key and Rev. Nan White about the experience of the Beaufort, SC congregation entitled Building Community by Building on a Legacy Keynote address: Race, Place, & Opportunity: The Role of Structures in (Re)Producing Inequality (Saturday 9am - 10am) by john a. powell, "an internationally recognized authority in the areas of civil rights, civil liberties, and issues relating to race, ethnicity, poverty and the law" Lunch presentation (Saturday 12:15-1:15pm) - Dr. Leon Spencer will discuss the book he co-authored about the history of UU anti-racism work, The Arc of the Universe is Long Concurrent Sessions (Saturday 10:15-11:45am and 1:15-2:45pm)
Richmond Slave Trail Walk (Sunday 11:00am-1:00pm) - join an experienced volunteer for a guided walk that "chronicles the history of the trade of enslaved Africans from Africa to Virginia until 1775, and away from Virginia, especially Richmond, to other locations in the Americas until 1865." |
