We've Got Mail!

(as of 8/21/08)

A Note from                              LEAH UEHLING LOCKHART        '58-'59 Faculty

"I taught US History and Government. Regretfully, I've never been able to attend a reunion. Just wanted you to know I'm alive and well, but have moved from South Carolina to Virginia to be nearer family since the death of my husband. I would like to continue to be on the mailing list. My check ($25) is enclosed to help with expenses. Should there be any publication or photos form the reunion, please send to me. Hope it's a huge success.

Thank you so much for remembering us, Leah!

AN EMAIL FROM A '59-'60 TEACHER: Roland Constantin

Thank you Cori, for including me still in your mailings.  I taught U. S.
History to the Juniors and one Senior Government class and a Sophmore World History class.  It was great fun!  I loved you kids and of course loved La Belle France!  We also had a fantastic faculty.  I am now 80 yrs old so not traveling much, but I do have great memories.  We lived in New Orleans until Katrina, and lost our home there.  But great news:  we're rebuilding our old home and moving back to New Orleans.  Thanks again for thinking to include
me.  I enjoyed hearing that you're alive and well.  Bon Voyage to Y'all.
                         Roland Constantin

...and a followup email:

Thank you for replying to my note, Cori.  I taught in Orleans in the 1959-60 school year.  I seem to have just missed your Dad.  I do remember 2 counsellors:  Bob Giamattea, and the other name I don't remember, but I remember he loved to fish.  Being a teacher, I am pleased to know that you are so enthralled with learning.  It is a life-long process, so you get an A as a perfect student!  Good luck, enjoy the reunion and I hope to read your book.  You surely may post my email on the Reunion web site.  Thank you very much.

A NOTE FROM

JACKIE MINDELL, '71

4/12/08

(included here with permission)

What a pleasant surprise I got in the mail today. I am glad there is another reunion. I cannot attend - I am on SSDI and can't afford to travel anywhere. I do wish I could move back to Orleans. If only I had that kind of money

Going to school in Orleans was for me an enjoyment - it was like we all were family! I miss Orleans very, very much and my sisgter and I are always talking about Orleans.

I do miss my French friends we had on our street when walking to and from the bus. I always talked to our neighbors...

My best regards to all of you at the Orleans Reunion.

Jackie

For reservations, please contact the Horton Grand Hotel as follows:

res@hortongrand.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Horton Grand is an amazing, historic hotel in the center of the Gaslamp District. It is a short walk to Petco Park for those sports enthusiasts who would like to attend either the Saturday or Sunday afternoon Padres game against the Colorado Rockies. Let me know soon if you are interested and I will look into reserving a box for our group.

The mailing includes a checklist of possibilities for sightseeing. One thing I forgot to include is a tour of the USS Midway. I have not been on the tour, but people who have told me they were very impressed. The San Diego Harbor is in fairly close proximity to our hotel headquarters, too. The Harbor tour is a relaxing and guided cruise around the bay.

Watch your mail, make your reservations, and come to San Diego. We're going to have fun!
