Pull-out Program

The program will not start until all testing is completed in third and fifth grades.

*In third grade the gifted program we investigate different inventors. The students will then create their own inventions and need to discuss how they came up with their idea and how it works. So far the students have come up with their own defintion of inventions. They have also researched famous inventions of all different categories. I think the most interesting thing we have done to date is create inventions for famous fairy tales. Be sure to ask your student what the invented and for who.

*The students in the fourth grade gifted program is justr about to begin The Journey Inside Computers. We will be going on computers and visititng many different sites in our pursuit of what computers are and how they work. We will first start out with learning the histrory of computers. Students will learn who was the first inventor of the computer. Did you knwo it dates back all the way to the late 1400's? Lots of hands on. Lots of fun.

*In the gifted program for fifth grade the students will be joining a group called Future Problem Solvers (FPS). In this program students will be using a highly detailed six-step problem solving process to resolve issues that can happen in the future. Students are going to be asked to think outside of the box to come up with new and exciting ways to solve issues. The program is extremely intense and calls on the students to use strong writing and research skills. Please go to www.illinois-fpsb.com/ for more details.
