 Welcome to the Retired Secondary Teachers' Association website.
 
The Retired Secondary Teachers' Association was founded on March 26th,1962. The first meeing was held in the ASTI office  at 36 St Stephens' Green and the first President was George Lodge.
 
The aim of the RSTA is to safeguard and  promote the welfare of retired secondary school teachers. To that end it liaises with the ASTI and with organisations which represent retired state employees.The Association endeavours to maintain a lively interest in health, social welfare and taxation issues as they affect its members. RSTA is affiliated to the National Federation of Pensioners' Association, the Irish Senior Citizens' Parliament and the Retired Workers' Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. 

RSTA membership gives access to a range of social activities in the various branches and members have the opportunity to exchange views and enjoy a chat at informal monthly meetings.

There is a national executive of  twelve members and at present there are branches in Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mayo, Midland, North-East, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
Each branch has its own Committee.
 
Newsletters - Newsletters are issued three times a year or as the need arises. National AGM takes place in May.
 
 
ASTI Credit Union - ASTI members are eligible to join the ASTI Credit Union as well as being members of a local Credit Union. Members of RSTA are encouraged to avail of its services.
 
 
 Emeritus Membership of the ASTI - The RSTA recommends that on retirement, teachers should become Emeritus members by applying to their local branch secretary of the ASTI. They can thus remind the active members of the concerns of the retired.
