Current Route:
Bellow is a picture of the current plan for the Reston rail extenstion, to continue the metro along the 267 highway. It seems to me that there is a much better route for the Metro, along the existing WO&D trail - this former rail path goes right through the heart of both Reston and Herndon, allowing for a much superior train route.
 Alternative Route
This is a much superior route - through the heart of the Reston Town Center and Herndon
 See how the route goes through the Reston Town Center, Herndon Center (which already has a train station), a second stop in Herndon, then to the clocktower town center (a high-density, mixed use community) and then over to the airport. The picture below shows the fight that Arlington made to get the correct route for the Metro through their community. This route has been a marked success.   Versus in Reston / Herndon today.
