What is the operation

Rounding Rhyme-This tells you what to do, we use this to estimate!
Find your number (underline place value to round)
Go next door       (circle lower place value- to right)
5 or greater, add one more
(underlined place gets one more)
4 or under, just ignore.
(underlined place stays the same)

Everything to the right is a 0. If you are rounding to 10, it has at least one 0 because ten has no ones, 100's have at least 00 because hundreds have no tens or ones.

Rounding Rodeo Rhyme (from our game):
5 or more, round 'er up, 4 or up, let it drop

Song for our Line Words! (Mary had a little lamb is the tune!)

Parallel lines never cross, never cross, never cross; parallel lines never cross, no they never do!

Lines that are perpendicular, perpendicular, perpendicular; lines that are perpendicular, make a right angle.

Cross those intersecting lines, cross those lines, cross those lines; cross those intersecting lines, they must always cross.

Home, home on the range,

Where big minus little is the range

Subtract the little one, from the biggest number And the teacher is happy all day!

(Tune: Frere Jaques): Just remember, just remember; Mode means most, mode means most! Just remember, just remember, Be sure to remember, be sure to remember; The mode means most, mode means most!

(Tune: Mary Had A Little Lamb):   Cumulative frequency, frequency, frequency; Cumulative frequency, means the total number.

(Tune: Have You Ever Seen a Lassie?):  Did you ever see an interval, an interval, an interval? Did you ever see an interval go 2, 4, 6, 8? Go 5, 10, 15, 20;   Go 10, 20, 30, 40? Did you ever seen an interval go 100, 200, 300, 400?

(Tune: If you are happy and you know it):  If you are able to find the scale, clap your hands (2 X) Just tell the number where it starts out and the number where it ends, Now you were able to find the scale so clap your hands.

(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star):  Median, median, middle number; How I wonder what you are; Mark off the big and then the little; Another big and another little; Median, median, middle number; Now I know just what you are!
