Region 5: MLTI/eMINTS: Technology Integration with a Constructivist Inquiry-Based ApproachRegion 5 consists of Schools in the greater Augusta area and the midcoast Maine area.Eligible schools are: Augusta, Fayette, Waterville, Jefferson, RSU#2, RSU#12, RSU#13, and RSU#20. Qualifying schools create a plan based on their curriculum goals and receive approximately 32 hours of professional development for teachers to assist with those goals in the areas of literacy and numeracy. There are six regional Instructional Specialists in Maine at the present time. Those specialists work together in cooperation with the Department of Education and the Maine Learning Technology Initiative. In September the Regional Mentor will be contacting qualifying schools for their assistance in formulating plans for participation in the grant. A new updated list should become available and if your school qualifies you will be notified. Becky Ranks is the Instructional Specialist for Region 5, has a Masters in Educational Technology from Lesley University, and holds a Certificate of Computer Technology from the State of Maine.
