Past Announcements

This competition, March 16-18 at the Comcast Arena in Everett, is a preview to the London Olympics, and will feature athletes from ten countries. It is an honor for our state and region to be selected to host this large international competition! Tickets are available at this link.

Volunteers are needed. All volunteers must register at the USA Gymnastics website. Those selected will receive a volunteer contract directly from USAG. You must volunteer a minimum of two shifts to receive credentials.

There is also a need for volunteers to help set up on Tuesday March 13 at 9:00am, and tear down Sunday March 18 9:00pm. Please contact Arzu Karali to volunteer for setup, or with any questions.

Saturday March 17
3:00pm Rhythmic Individual Event Finals
Times and activities subject to change. Doors open 60 minutes early for each session.

August 2011: CONGRATULATIONS CLAIRE!

Region 2 is quite proud of Claire Skach, who won a place on National Team for the second year at Visa Championships! Congratulations also to Manon Chaney, who achieved Level 10 Elite status this year, and to Mattea Cavagnaro who also performed magnificently!

June 2011: EVERGREEN RHYTHMICS AWARDED FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

Evergreen Rhythmics, who have been performing and promoting rhythmic gymnastics in many outdoors events this summer, was awarded for the active participation in the development of international humanitarian and public relations by the President of Russian Center of Science and Culture from Washington DC, Yuri Zaitsev, during the Slavic Literature and Culture Festival in Federal Way.

June 2011: JUNIOR OLYMPICS CHAMPION!

Congratulations to Amanda Tran for earning first place Level 10 All-Around at 2011 Junior Olympics Optional Invitational!

June 2011: WELCOME NEW OREGON STATE CHAIR JAYME.VINCENT

Jayme Vincent, coach at Rose City Rhythmics, has been elected as Oregon State Chair. Joyce Chaplin, Region 2 Chair, offers her congratulations and says, "I am sure Jayme will do everything in the best interests of rhythmic gymnastics in Oregon." Joyce also offers, on behalf of Region 2, "a big THANK YOU to David Yoshinaga, who has served diligently as Oregon State Chair for many years."

To Region 2 gymnasts and parents, Joyce says, "I know that you will support Jayme as she embarks on this new venture."

June 2011: NEW TEAMS!

Welcome to new Region 2 teams: Lake City Gymnastics in Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) and Rose City Rhythmics in Portland (Oregon)!

Amanda, who trains at Kortel Academy in Washington, placed 7th at the Challenge. Claire Skach, from Oregon Gymnastics Academy, placed 8th. Great job, girls!

February 2011: SPECIAL HONOR FOR NAOMI MOORE

Naomi recently won the crown of Miss Auburn Outstanding Teen, crediting her many years' work in rhythmic gymnastics as well as the help of her coach Olga Niculita of Evergreen Rhythmics for her poise and confidence. Click here to read the article.

September 2010: CONGRATULATIONS SHAINA CLARK ON BEING AWARDED RHYTHMIC SCHOLARSHIP (2010)

Level 9 Senior gymnast Shaina Clark is among four rhythmic gymnasts nationwide who have each been awarded $1000 scholarships toward their college educations by the Rhythmic Education Fund. Along with several other groups and individuals, Region 2 was specifically commended for its consistent contribution to this fund. August 2010: CONGRATULATIONS CLAIRE SKACH and AMANDA TRAN, NATIONAL TEAM MEMBERS!

Congratulations to Claire, new National Team member, and Amanda, on National Team for the second year! Amanda scored an impressive 177.375 total for the eight events she performed August 13 and 14 in the Junior competition. Claire's combined scores for the weekend were 169.075 in the Senior competition. Best wishes in all your performances this year, Claire and Amanda! Well done also to Katya Furlong and Manon Chaney for their hard work.
