I am currently accepting PhD students. I am interested in students whose research interests generally
overlap with mine. My lab
is solely a computing lab but it is possible to do a joint field- and
theoretical-based project. Strong
computing, mathematical and statistical skills are preferred, however a willingness to learn
simulation techniques is required. I am not fussy about the organism
or ecosystem of interest. I am more inclined to accept students who are question driven and have a desire to apply scientific concepts to solve conservation problems, than students who are interested in pursuing conservation biology predominantly to save their favorite species. As most graduate advisors, I particularly like mentoring
hard-working, focused individuals. In this sense, I am selective about
who works with me. If you are interested, please contact me regarding
your interest via email. Please be prepared to send me a written letter
briefly describing your goals and experience, your quantitative and
computing skills, and your CV (resume).
