...and finally

 

This article has been a joint effort between myself and Emma Bedford who will be taking over from me from the next issue of Refer. Emma is the senior library assistant for Official Publications within the library at the Institute of Education, University of London.

 

I will miss the challenge of getting somewhere near the deadline and having to be sufficiently up to speed with developments in official publishing to write anything intelligible. However, my job has changed considerably over the last year or so and I find that, although I am still working with public sector information, I am no longer handling official publications whether printed or electronic as I was before. 

 

I wish Emma all the best and I know she will find it rewarding and useful.  This column is the only systematic record of developments in official publishing and with Refer celebrating 30 years of publication it provides a remarkable archive of three decades of considerable change in this area. I am therefore delighted that Emma is prepared to pick it up and continue the mission to inform and record.
