| Disclaimer: I accept no responsibility for what you do to your game consoles, controllers, and/or accessories. Please look at the ratings and make sure you read the entire tutorial to evaluate whether you can accomplish it. Thanx. What you need to add leds to the nunchuck are listed below. 1.Triwing Screwdriver(a small flat head may also work) 2.Led(in this tut I use a 0603 led) 3.30awg wire(other gauge wire may be substituted but 30 works the best) 4.Electircal Tape(preferrably black) 5.Soldering Iron and Solder 6.Dremel(optional but very highly reccommended) 1.First you need to remove the 4 screws from the underside of the wiimote. 2.Second remove the cover starting on the side closest to the batteries and wedging a knife or screwdriver up towards the top of the controller slowly and carefully. 3.Remove the rubber contacts and place them on the top of the wiimote case. 4.Now remove the black plastic in the front of the case. 5.Set the black pastic mentioned above aside, and slowly lift the motherboard starting from the nunchuck connection(shown below). Be careful with the rumble motor it can easily be disconnected. 6.Flip over the mobo(motherboard). 7.You need to now identify the positive and negative connections. 8.Now you must decide how you want to route your led wires. there are 2 ways indicated below. 9.Once you cut or dremel the route for the wires so the white plastic brace is flat on the mobo put the wires in and turn the mobo over. 10.I went with the red route but which ever one you choose you'll need to cover the resistors with black tape to prevent shorting out the mobo and rest the led on top like below. 11.The rubber contacts should be on the top part of the case but if not it should look like what I have below. 12.Insert 2 AA batteries to test your led and to keep the mobo in place while you close it. 13.Final test and your ready to play with your newly moded Wiimote. |
