Watch out for semi's!
First off, the wife and son are ok. Thank God James was sitting in the front passenger seat, not the side captain's chair where he normally does.
The wife was making a left turn across 1604 (a rural freeway here for those who aren't local) and a bottom-dump earth hauler blew the red light and T-boned her. She had the green light. Cops said 100% his fault, and luckily there was a witness (road worker) right there on the spot who waited for the cops to show up and gave a statement.
Here's the kind of truck I'm talking about:
I'll update as things develop. Waiting to hear from the trucking insurance company right now... they have given us a rental minivan for the time being.

The van was totalled; we got a decent price for it, a touch above blue book, and bought an F150 pickup to replace it. That allowed us to get rid of the rental van and get back somewhat to normal. Also got Jenny a Ford Focus while we were at it... will get pictures up later.
The wife's medical treatment continues; she was thrown pretty out of whack by the accident and still has pains, seeing a chiropractor several times a week, getting Xrays and MRIs done to see just what needs fixing. Lawsuit kind of on hold until we figure out all the problems.
