The Redline EcoHawks group is a small division of the University of Kansas EcoHawks Engineering Team ( www.EcoHawks.org ) While striving to achieve a 500 mpg fuel-neutral vehicle, many testing aspects must be done on a smaller scale. The Redline EcoHawks are particularly concerned with creating a fast and efficient remote control vehicle. Many concerns regarding current hybrid technology deal with lack of power, lack of speed, and high cost. By building a highly efficient and lightweight vehicle, the Redline EcoHawks will attempt to reduce these misconceptions. One interesting aspect of the design is the ability to switch battery packs to meet different powertrain needs. The design will incorporate two different battery pack and gearing combinations: one for high speed and the other for long range. Through precision design and engineering analysis, an extremely efficient vehicle will be built at very reasonable cost |
