Perspective Drawing: January 5-16th

Monday 1/5   
-Review ways to achive the appearance of space & depth in 2D works of art:  1) Overlapping, 2) Size Variation, 3) High Low Postioning, 4)  Bright Colors appear closer, 5) Light Values appear further away than dark. 
-Intro to creating space & depth through perspective drawing.  Cover 1 point perspective.  Handout.
-Powerpoint & Rules for perspective drawing:  1) all horizontal lines are parallel to each other, 2) all vertical lines are parallel to each other, 3) all lines going away from you converge to a vanishing point, 4)  start with a square/rectangle.
-Vocabulary:  Vanishing Point, Horizon Line, Eye Level, Converge
-Assignment:  Draw boxes 1-point boxes at, above & below the horizon line (directly over Exercise 1a, & side view Exercise 1b).  Exercise 2 Draw railroad tracks in 1 point perspective
 
Tuesday 1/6
-Review 1 point perspective & go over exercises from Monday.
-Introduce exercise 3 the box in the road.  Start with a rectangle. All points converge to the vanishing point.
-Exercise 4, Name or initials in 1 point prespective.  Draw letters using a ruler in the block style with points. All points converge to the vanishing point.
-Closure & review
 
Wednesday 1/7
-Review 4 rules for 1-point perspetive and cover any questions from Exercises 1-4.
-Handout on 1 point perspective for drawing a corridor or hallway.
-Students need a ruler, pencil, drawing board & sketchbook.
-The door at the end of the hall is the square they need to start with.
-Cover tiles in diminishing size.
Vocabulary:  Diminishing size.
 
Thursday 1/8
-Spray paint gargoyles
-Finish 1 point drawing of hallway.  Be sure to include tile in diminishing size, windows, floor molding, etc.
 
Friday 1/9
-Intro to 2 point perspective.  Rules:  1) All vertical lines are parallel to each other, 2) All horizontal lines are parallel to each other, 3)  Start with a line, 4) The top & bottom of the line will go to the 2 different vanishing points.
