Tuesday 9/30
-Review Anticipation Guide and correct as a class. Discussion on Color with a focus on Complementary Colors.
-Video: Color with Stephen Quiller (18 minutes). Discussion and focus on complementary colors and color neautralization scales.
-Overview on paint brush procedures: Bring student ID to class, cleaning brush gently with soap & water, re-shaping brush with paper towel, handles down in bucket when you return. If you want successful projects, you must all pitch in to take care of your brushes.
Wednesday 10/1
Guest speaker from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Workshop on Big Ideas. Using your mind and building creativity. Careers in art, options for studying art and design careers in college.
Thursday 10/2
-Review brush care & Complementary Colors. Directions and instruction on Complementary Color Neutralization Scales. (see attached).
-Begin painting Color Neutralization Worksheet. Focus on neatness, thourough color mixing, applying appropriate amounts of color per directions. DUE end of class tomorrow.
Friday 10/3
Finish Color Neutralization Scales DUE TODAY.
-Using the large drawing paper, start drawing out 3 columns of 12, 1x3 inch boxes. Use rulers to neatly make the boxes. Boxes should be touching. We will use these to paint a Color Wheel Scale & a Value Scale. The boxes are Due Monday.
Monday 10/6
Bellwork: Write down art quote. Finish drawing out the 3 columns of 12, 1x3 inch boxes. Be ready to take notes
-Video: Tempera Paint the Color Wheel with Gail Price.
-Students should start painting their color wheel scales using only the primary colors: Red, Yellow, & Blue. Yellow on the top of the scale. Focus on neatness, accuracy of color mixing and transitions. Students should try to finish the box they started before leaving class. It is difficult to mix the exact color the next day.
-Start taking pics of students for Chuck Close style portrait project.
Tuesday 10/7
Students should work on finishing their Color Wheel scales.
-Students may begin Value Scale with Black & White.
-Continue taking pics of students for upscoming assignment.
Wednesday 10/8
-Critique on color wheel scales. Focus on mixing color, neatness, etc.
Demo on mixing a Value Scale & a Tint/Shade Scale. Black into white, & white into black for the value scale. Color into white for tint, black into color for a shade scale. Students may begin painting scales if they have completed the color wheel scale. White should be on top, next to the yellow from the color wheel scale. Focus on mixing values in a gradual step like manner.
Continue taking student pictures.
Thursday 10/9
All students should be on the value scale. DUE tomorrow.
Friday 10/10
-Bellwork: Pick up Chuck Close WS & move to the front for a video on Chuck Close.
-Turn in Video Worksheet.
-Students may finish their value scales. DUE TODAY.
--Students who finish early may begin the grid drawing for their self portrait.

Handout on grid drawing procedures (see attachment). Demo on grid drawing.
Give students their self portraits.
Tuesday 10/14
-Mid-term review (powerpoint). QUIZ on THURSDAY!
