Tuesday 9/2
-Demo on upside down man. This is an exercise in drawing what you see (lines), and not what you think something should look like. Hold the drawing xerox of the man upside down. Cover all but an inch. In your sketchbook, draw everything in that inch. Translate and plan your space so that you are being accurate and not drawing too large or small. When you are done with the inch, move the cover down 1 more inch, and continue to do so until you finish the entire drawing.
-Finish portfolios
Wednesday 9/3

-In the green Exploring Visual Design text, read pgs: 10-18, 20-28 on Line. In your sketchbook, answer questions 1-4 from pg, 31.
-Finish Upside-down man.
-Review questions.
-Do a series (min. 3) different poses of your hand using contour lines.1 Must be a blind contour drawing.
Thursday 9/4
-Review and powerpoint on Line
-Finish contour line drawings of your hand & blind contour of your hand. Describe the shape/form of your hand. Contour lines give us an idea of the interior detail without making it extremely detailed. Ex: lines in hands, bone structure, nails, tendons, etc. The blond contour is done by putting your hand behind you. You are looking at your hand not your sketchbook. You must draw what you see and try to transfer your observation of the shape of your hand to your paper. No peeking! This will help you to become a better observer and helps hand eye coordination.
Friday 9/5
-Draw your table mate using contour lines. You must take turns drawing each other. Draw from head to toe. Fill the space in your sketchbook. Try to draw in proportion. Consider folds in clothing. Model must sit still while posing. Focus on using observation skills, size relationships, and proportions. See handout.
