Basic Design

Fall Semster (Basic Design I) Course Description: This course consists of theory, art history, application, and building creativity through the use of various art mediums such as: drawing, painting, clay, printmaking, etc. This is a foundation art course & pre-requisite to all other studio art courses at FHHS. The visual Elements of Art will be the addressed in order to create & understand art as a language. Students will be awarded ½ credit for the semester.  Two semesters will satisfy the 1 credit graduation requirement, and the fine arts requirement needed for admission to any Arizona University.


Spring Semester (Basic Design II) Course Description: This course will consist of theory, art history, application, and building creativity through the use of various art mediums such as: pen & ink, watercolor, clay, paint, pastel, etc. This is a foundation art course & pre-requisite to all other studio art courses at FHHS. This course is a continuation of Semester I in which we discussed the Elements of Art. This semester covers the Principles of Design which are used to create & understand art as a visual language.

Students will be awarded ½ credit for the semester.  Two semesters will satisfy the 1 credit graduation requirement, and the fine arts requirement needed for admission to any Arizona University.
