During 1997, a group of enthusiasts met several times with a view of establishing a rabbit society that concentrated primarily on promoting rabbits for both showing and as pets.

REBS is an independent body, incorporated in New South Wales.

Objectives of REBS

  • Educate and promote rabbits in the public arena.
  • Hold regular shows and educational seminars.
  • Encourage, maintain and improve the qualities of recognised breeds of rabbits.
  • Supply information to all members regarding the hygienic keeping, breeding, and management of rabbits in captivity.
  • Publish regular newsletters.
  • Supply identification rings for rabbits and keep complete records of sales and transfers of rings/rabbits.
  • Adopt and issue standards for approved breeds of rabbits.
  • Enforce the rules and regulations of the society, and deal with the
    infringement of these rules accordingly.
  • Grant and/or register prefixes for new members.
  • Offer championships and other awards to new members.
