During
1997, a group of enthusiasts met several times with a view of
establishing a rabbit society that concentrated primarily on
promoting rabbits for both showing and as pets.
REBS
is an independent body, incorporated in New South Wales.
Objectives
of REBS
-
Educate and
promote rabbits in the public arena.

Hold regular
shows and educational seminars.

Encourage,
maintain and improve the qualities of recognised breeds of
rabbits.

Supply
information to all members regarding the hygienic keeping,
breeding, and management of rabbits in captivity.

Publish
regular newsletters.
-
Supply
identification rings for rabbits and keep complete records
of sales and transfers of rings/rabbits.
-
Adopt and
issue standards for approved breeds of rabbits.
-
Enforce the
rules and regulations of the society, and deal with the
infringement
of these rules accordingly.

Grant and/or
register prefixes for new members.
-
Offer championships
and other awards to new members.
