Game of the week: Find my temper! To get ready for this game, take turns finishing the following sentences: The reason I last lost my temper is... I reacted by... The way I calmed myself was... Next, spend a few minutes helping everyone create a short physical demonstration of the technique used to calm themselves. Now you are ready to play the game. One participant stays in the room and hides a paper clip in plain sight. The rest of the group waits outside. The paper clip is our temper. When the hider is ready, the angry seekers enter the room. We are all very very angry that we cannot find our temper. When we do spot it, we immediately stop being angry and start acting out our calming techniques. Once everyone has found their temper, it is the next person's turn. The game is over when everyone has had a chance to hide the paperclip. Our students had a range of calming tricks: being alone, being totally still, deep breathing, yoga, running, sleeping, reading a book, hopping, curling up into a ball, and climbing trees. Riddle of the week: I am as round and as deep as a cook pot, but not even all the water in the ocean can fill me up. What am I? A strainer. Highlight the above line to reveal the answer! |
