RESUME

Press:

“The actors are seen mostly in silhouette and shadow, controlled by the haunting, sometimes deliberately disorienting lighting effects by Rebecca M. K. Makus.” Proto-type, Inc.  Whisper, PS122 NYC 2008 (Anita Gates, NYTimes, July 11, 2008)

“Visually too, with its clever use of light, the actors moving in and out, back and forth to throw giant shadows or sharp silhouettes or coloured patterns, the work grips and enthralls right up to the somehow inevitably tragic ending.”  Proto-type, Inc.  Whisper, Soho Theatre London, UK 2008  (Carole Gordon, WhatsOnStage.com, Oct. 1, 2008)

"When the dark Lop Side world encroaches in – well, it does what every creepy fairy tale wood was meant to do – create an encroaching danger, loneliness, and sadness on what was once so safe and comforting."  "The costumes (including hair design) created by Jessica Pabst are extraordinary. They flowed so seamlessly that I almost don’t know what to say. It’s difficult to analyze them as they were so much an organic part of the world – as was the lighting design, Video/Projection Design, and the beautiful puppets (created by Lighting Designer Rebecca M. K. Makus, Video/Projection Designer Alex Koch (who also designed the sets for the beautiful Irena’s Vow,) and Puppet Designer Andy Toad)." Birdhouse, KNF Productions, Mint Theatre, 2009
(Ashley Griffin, theatreonline.com)

“Kudos to everyone involved, particularly lighting designer Rebecca M.K. Makus, who achieves effects that are startling and beautiful.”  Proto-type, Inc.  The Twilight Series, HERE Arts Center NY (Martin Denton, nytheatre.com)
