The beginning of the 2012 Spring Season looked promising starting with a victory, the Real Mandarin over 40 had added to the roaster to Sergio "Che" Rodriguez for his farewell season, Henry, Carlos and Juan, all of them skill players with a team spirit. However, not everything started happening as planned several players were out the pitch during several games of the first half of the season, Nacho, Jason and Dave were injured, and Ivan extremely sick, all this in combination with work responsibilities left the team incomplete, two games had to be forfeited due to lack of players, the future turned grim.
Despite of the temporary setback, once the team had a full squad for the second half of the season, it was able to pull off a series of wins to contend for the first position on the standings, finishing on second position with the same number of points than the leading team but lower goal differential. Nevertheless, the team was primed for the play-offs and being a protagonist one more time.
For the semifinal against Kickers, a fast team with good ball control, Real Mandarin managed to take the game to overtime after drawing to two goals, both penalty kicks, during regular time the entire team left everything on the field. The game was closed and very physical during the extra time without goals, the fate had to be determined with penalty kicks. At the end, Real Mandarin finished by winning the game 3-2 on penalty kicks with two excellent saves from Alex "Gordihno". We were in the final.
For the final game, the team was ready, Alex, Bobby, Carlos, Dave, Henry, Ingo, Jason, Juan, Luis, Mike and Nacho, with two important absences, Ivan, who was injured and Sergio, who had moved out of the country by then. The Grand OI Team who finished on first place was the opponent team. By the first half the score was favoring the other team, 2-0. The team was determined to come back strong on the second half, Henry and Carlos scored to even the score to two. The referee whistled to mark of the end of the regular time with a tie, everyone was exhausted and a sense of accomplishment was in the air after a strong comeback and not giving away anything.
The extra time started and Grand IO scored first, Real Mandarin attacked with everything, the legs were not responding, substitutions were happening, the second goal against happened during the attempts to even the score, the story was written, final score 4-2 favoring Grand IO. Congrats to the winners and to the contenders, excellent match. Good Luck to our friends Sergio and Henry, we will miss you, the team wanted to celebrate your departure with a championship but the effort and the camaraderie were there present.

Against all odds, Real Mandarin overcomes a series of challenges starting with the Quarterfinal where the team started with two men down and starting losing the game by 1-0, at end the team with the full squad could overcome the score to finish the game with a 4-1 win. Later, for the Semifinal the Real Mandarin team had to play with 10 players due to several absences against the Palm Coast Huracan team which finished the season on first place with just 8 goals against, after overcoming a losing game, Real Mandarin hold the act together and pull off a surprisingly come back to finish the game with a victory with a 5-4 score, Real Mandarin was installed in the final for the Championship for a third time in a row. Once in the final, Real Mandarin faced the very strong Eagles United team which finished the regular season as the best offensive with 46 goals scored and 15 goals against. The final game could not be different from the other play-off games where Real Mandarin seemed itself behind in the score and after a fantastic second half, Real Mandarin came back to set the final tone and win the championship with a final 6-3 score that left no doubts. Congratulations Real Mandarin Champions!

Finishing on second place in the over 30 standings and winning the semifinal against Jax Storm in a back to back session, Real Mandarin gave an outstanding effort, however it was not enough to retain the title and the championship escaped against FC Bosna. Nevertheless, congratulations to the team on achieving and enjoying the game. |

The inclement hot weather and a very good opponent could not stop Real Mandarin for winning the over 30 (B) Championship on the 2010 Summer season that had to be solved on a series of penalty kicks. Go Real Mandarin!

Our season is over, we lost a well fought game but we lack determination in the crucial parts of the game specially when it comes to scoring after having many opportunities. Lets remember that in futbol the one that doesn't score looses and in Spanish "si perdonas pierdes". Overall I'm pleased with everyones efforts and commitment to the team, it was a good season that could have been great!. Hope to see you guys back in our futbol team again. You have my gratitude and appreciation. Regards, Luis |
