Meetings at 7pm to 9pm at the Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace Edinburgh (0131 225 4825):

The next meeting in 2011 is on Tuesday 22nd November..

The experience of early Christians and Friends through the ages
Why do bad things happen to good people?
.
Following on from looking at some of the experiences and arguments among the early Christians and early Friends and the letter to the Romans, the Reading the Bible with Friends group is looking at the book of Job from the Old Testament and whether this has any relevance for us today.

We are now using the Friendly Bible Study method that has been developed for use by Friends with some or no knowledge of the Bible to enable anyone to participate and is based on worship sharing rather than academic study (see the article in the resources section).

If there is time we will also be looking at different opinions using written, audio and DVD material and anything else appropriate we can find.  We continue to look at religious experiences of the early Christians and how they parallel the experiences of Friends throughout the ages. We also consider what religious experience drives us to do with our lives.

The group will next be meeting in the usual slot of the third Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is on Tuesday 22nd November,  at 7pm in the Meeting House when we are looking at Romans 15. Open to all whether you have been to a session before or not. For more details and reading materials, please contact Alastair Reid on 074411611413 or AlastairReid@btinternet.com or contact Henry Thompson.
Future Meetings:
These meetings will continue to use the Friendly Bible Study method - see the short description in the Resources page on this website. We normally meet on the third Tuesday of the month throughout the year.
